| Welcome food starter pack |
(£15 including delivery) We can arrange a welcome food pack to be left in your fridge for your arrival containing a few basic items as follows: Bread, unsalted butter, litre milk, 6 eggs, ham, mineral water & bottle white wine (red on request), litre bottle of lager beer, litre carton orange juice, cereals, jam and marmalade, bottle lemonade, large packet crisps (These items could be useful should your flight be delayed). The local supermarket now sells these 'Skip' tablets in packs of two, so you do not need to buy a whole box. We will also cater for special occasions and can order birthday cakes, champagne etc. for you. To be paid with your final balance.
We have eight mobile phones to hire, pre-programmed with useful numbers, restaurants, our own numbers, doctor, taxi, airport etc. With Spanish pay as you go cards at typically 20p per minute!! £3 per week to hire plus calls, paid at the end of your stay. |

| Useful information |
Guide to opening times & other information.
Shops Monday to Friday 9.30 am. to 2 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. to 10.pm. Saturday 9.30 am to 2.30 pm. There is a new shopping centre at the entrance to the urbanisation and this has a Carrefour supermarket, bank, newsagent/bookseller, tapas bar, dry cleaner, internet café and two restaurants (See 'Restaurants' below). Euromarket & Hyper Andalucia (Dunnes Stores, Ireland's premier retailer) are open all day until 10.00 p.m. except Sundays when they close at 2.30 p.m. You can buy most English foods at the large hyper-markets nearby. NB imported cereals such as Kellogg's etc., can cost about £3-£4 per box! from smaller shops, other items are just about the same as at home. Bottles of wine from around 80p & litre bottles of lager from 50p. Camera films can cost around £10.00 for a 20 exposure, from the smaller local shops but are much less in the supermarkets. (Please read the house book on arrival you will find all the opening times & other useful information.)
Buses There is an hourly bus service which stops at the entrance to urbanisation Mi Jardin and travels a circular route through Benalmadena Pueblo & Costa and back, up the hill to Torremar. Reserva del Higueron is served by the no. 16 bus which travels between Mijas and Torremolinos every half hour.
Doctor / Dentist There is an English doctor & dentist on call just 10 mins' away, they are called Angels of the night ('phone no' in house book also programmed into mobile phone).
Restaurants Meals out start around £2.50 upwards. A glass of wine is 50p & a glass of lager 60p. A really good Sirloin steak, with all trimmings costs £5. It's generally inexpensive. There are two new restaurants in the shopping centre; firstly the Bao which has a very relaxed atmosphere, good music and a choice of foods for all tastes. Then there is my favourite Indian, the Nirvana, where hosts Meena and Jim will make you very welcome and you will enjoy the finest Indian and Goan cuisine prepared to your taste. There is a Mc Donalds for those who cannot live without a Big Mac! There are also some really excellent restaurants such as the Mirador in Mijas with superb terrace views - typically £15.00 per head inc, wine & cocktails for a really memorable meal. El Muro, next to the main church in the pueblo has spectacular views and features live music. There is another in Fuengirola 'Old town' called La Farola which serves excellent local food, inc' Spanish 'Tapas' (assorted appetisers). There are many to choose from. N.B. It is worth having a food starter pack because if your flight is delayed, all except the larger supermarkets are closed on a Saturday afternoon until Monday morning. There is a Morrisons in Gibraltar and a very good open market in Fuengirola on Tuesday morning.
Banks Monday to Friday 8.30.am. to 2.00 pm. Saturday and Sunday closed. There is a branch of the Banca March in the new shopping centre at the entrance to the urbanisation.
Passports All visitors to Spain will need a valid passport. In the case of British visitors Children will need their own 5 year British Passport, and can no longer travel on a parents passport.
Church services Church of England, Catholic and Methodist etc. can all be found in Benalmadena.
Polite notice We would courteously ask our guests to be responsible for leaving our home and its contents clean and in good order. This is especially relevant to the cooking areas, and the barbecue grill, where we would expect our guests to leave the facilities in the same condition as they found them ready for the next guests arrival. It is especially important to remember to gently let down all roller shutters and to lock all doors and security gates when you go out.
Please allow maids access to clean from 10.00am on the morning of your departure.
Note: Both John & Kay speak Spanish (as well as English) and are only too willing to assist you where knowledge of the language is needed.
